Hi John,
there are several ways you can see the effect:
Tap on "Buildings" then on "Solar Panels". A details area opens giving the effects of the building. Same with the "Habitat" building
Tap on "Storage" then on "Power storage", then on "Power". You can see a list of all effects influencing the stored power. You can find the solar panels in the list with a positive value. You will also find the habitat there but with a negative value. this is because the habitat consumes power while the solar panels produce power.
Tap on "Population". There you can see that "Health" and "Happiness" of your settlement are influenced by the habitat.
